Mo-DV is short for Mobile Digital Video, the genesis of the company. Mo-DV’s initial purpose was to provide a mechanism for movie studios to deliver movies on flash memory media for play on cell phones, tablets, laptops and other devices like small DVD’s. The technology expanded quickly to embrace other content areas which include Medicine, Publishing, Education and Training.
The Mo-DV technology binds the content and player to the removable media and locks it more securely than other approaches, utilizing proprietary and standards based DRM. The Company has 4 issued and 8 pending patents in many areas relative to flash media and portable devices,
Although streaming TV to the living room (e.g. Netflix) is convenient, it is much more expensive to wirelessly stream or download to the cell phones or mobile devices. The fiber optic based wired networks (Comcast) charge only $0.23/GB for data transmission whereas wireless networks, as AT&T and Verizon, charge $12/GB for wireless delivery of the same amount of content. This a 60 fold factor in price, which illustrates the extreme limits on wireless bandwidth. Wireless downloading or streaming just one full resolution HD movie would burn up a months’ $50 data plan, not including the price of the movie or other uses. This makes movies and other content delivered on flash memory media less expensive than streaming or downloading over the networks. Most portable devices are compatible with flash media unlike optical discs, none of which are compatible with cell phones, tablets or netbooks.
We believe mobile computing is the future to where everything is moving, including the cloud. This will only be hampered by the lack of RF spectrum and other communications issues, whether it is to cell phones, tablets or other portable devices.
Mo-DV is all about mobile media and now the potential is there for our technology and patents to meet the needs for Medicine, Entertainment, Training , eBooks Publishing and Government applications. We are agnostic, which makes our future powerful.
